[Charleston] Startup Grind: Eric Thome

Eric Thome is the director of the local arm of the angel investing network, VentureSouth. VentureSouth Charleston is a group of investors in and around Charleston, SC who support early-stage, high-growth ventures in the Southeastern United States with capital and expertise.
Outside of the angel investing network, Eric is a business consultant helping companies with strategy and operations. The founder of Death Valley Ventures, Eric previously ran his own private equity search process to purchase the folding kayak company, Folbot. He also started GameDayBlazers.com under DVV for well dressed college sports fans. His background is in operations and consulting for businesses large and small.
Eric received his bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University and his MBA from the Darden School at the University of Virginia. He is the current president of the UVA Club of the Lowcountry and on the board of the Charleston County Clemson Club. He is also a partner in Social Venture Partners, a mentor with SCORE and a founding member of Charleston Coalition for Kids. Eric and his wife, Eloise, live in Charleston, SC with each their daughters, Anna and Landon.
